House Resolution 54

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING REPRESENTATIVE RAYMOND COMANS UPON HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE MISSISSIPPI HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AND EXPRESSING APPRECIATION FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE.

WHEREAS, Representative Raymond Comans, born March 20, 1930, in Dixon, Mississippi, will retire from the Mississippi House of Representatives at the end of the 1999 Legislative Session; and

WHEREAS, Representative Comans has dedicated 28 years of service to the people of the 78th District in the House of Representatives, which includes parts of Kemper, Lauderdale, Neshoba, Newton and Scott Counties; and

WHEREAS, Representative Comans, during his long tenure, has served the people of Mississippi with distinction having served as Chairman of the House Military Affairs Committee, as Vice Chairman of the Public Buildings, Lands and Grounds and as a member of the Agriculture, Apportionment and Elections and Appropriations Committees; and

WHEREAS, Raymond, well known for his common sense, good nature and irrepressible sense of humor, is loved by his colleagues as one who sincerely cares for others; and

WHEREAS, Representative Comans has distinguished himself as a highly respected legislator and has served in a manner which will be an exceptional model for his successors to emulate; and

WHEREAS, Representative Comans has been lovingly supported by his faithful wife, Glenda Burkes, and their three children: Cheryl Lynne, Charlotte Ann and Catherine Lynelle; and

WHEREAS, the members of the House of Representatives wish to express their deep appreciation for the immense personal sacrifice in the many years Representative Comans has spent attending to the needs of his constituents and the citizens of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Representative Raymond Comans upon his retirement and express our sincere appreciation for his many years of exceptional service as a member of the House of Representatives.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Representative Raymond Comans and to members of the Capitol Press Corps.
